One lighting system for everyday use and special occasions
Permanent outdoor lighting stays mounted along your home’s roofline, giving you the flexibility to change its appearance through the Govee Home app. You can adjust supported colors, brightness, scenes, and schedules without reinstalling lights for each occasion.
Warm-white architectural lighting
A soft white setting can highlight the roofline, frame the garage, and bring out the shape of an entryway. We consider the distance between the lights and wall, the mounting angle, and the surrounding surfaces when planning the effect. These details influence whether the light appears as distinct patterns or a broader wash across the exterior.
For an understated everyday look, start with a warm-white scene at a comfortable brightness. You can save more colorful settings for another occasion.
Holidays, celebrations, and game days
Change to holiday colors, a team-inspired scene, or a custom combination for a celebration. Often called permanent Christmas lights, these systems can also provide everyday exterior lighting throughout the year.
Accent lighting and added nighttime visibility
Roofline lighting can make the home’s exterior easier to see and draw attention to architectural features. Its usefulness depends on the placement and brightness. Decorative roofline lights provide supplemental illumination; areas needing strong task lighting, motion detection, or dedicated security coverage may need separate fixtures.
Govee Elite and Pro installation
The right kit depends on your roofline, your preferred white-light effect, and how the lights need to travel between sections of the house. Send us the model number and kit length before buying additional strands or accessories.
| Feature | Govee Elite / Outdoor Lights 2* | Govee Outdoor Lights Pro* |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday white lighting | Dedicated warm-white lighting | Dedicated warm and cool white; adjustable 2700K–6500K |
| Roofline customization | Plan around intact factory strands and compatible extensions; these models are not designed to be cut | Supports cutting and splicing according to Govee’s instructions |
| Practical fit | Layouts that work with the kit’s fixed strand arrangement | Layouts where approved custom lengths and transitions are useful |
| Mounting | Direct mounting or a compatible track system | Direct mounting or a compatible track system |
This comparison covers Elite/Outdoor Lights 2 models H705D/E/F and Pro models H706A/B/C. Retail bundles and newer generations can differ. We check your exact kit and manufacturer instructions before confirming the layout.
A longer box length does not automatically mean a kit will fit every roofline. Unlit gaps, controller placement, extension compatibility, and system limits all affect the plan. We review these details before installation.
If you already own the lights, send a picture of the box label with your quote request. If you want us to supply them, we can recommend a compatible option based on your coverage and mounting preferences.

Track-mounted versus direct-mounted permanent lights
Both methods can produce a clean installation. The main differences are daytime appearance, material cost, and how the lights attach to your home.
| Consideration | Track mounting | Direct mounting |
|---|---|---|
| Daytime appearance | A channel conceals much of the wiring and creates a consistent mounting line; the lenses remain exposed | Individual light housings and connecting wire may be more visible |
| Attachment | Compatible track is secured to a suitable surface | Lights and wire supports attach directly to a suitable surface |
| Project cost | Usually higher because of the track materials and installation work | Often lower when the surface and layout suit direct mounting |
| Design considerations | Track fit, finish, corners, transitions, and future access | Surface condition, approved attachment method, alignment, and wire management |
When track mounting makes sense
Track mounting is worth considering when a discreet daytime finish is a priority. It helps organize the light spacing and wiring, particularly on visible front-facing rooflines. Track compatibility matters: a channel must fit the exact light model and leave the lenses unobstructed.
Track does not make the system invisible or change the manufacturer’s weather ratings. The finished appearance also depends on the roofline, viewing angle, and available track finish.
When direct mounting makes sense
Direct mounting can work well on a suitable soffit when you want to control project cost. A professional layout still includes consistent placement, supported wiring, and careful transitions around the house.
Attachment depends on the surface and the product instructions. A textured or deteriorating finish needs a different assessment from smooth, sound material; adhesive alone is not an appropriate assumption for every installation.
Roofline lighting for soffits, fascia, and stucco
The soffit is the underside of the roof overhang. On many homes it provides a place to position lights so they illuminate the exterior wall below. The best position depends on the shape and depth of the overhang, the wall finish, and the effect you want.
Fascia mounting is another option for permanent roofline lighting. The fascia is the board along the outer edge of the roof, and a suitable mounting position can help the lights follow its shape neatly. We assess the available surface, mounting direction, and distance from the wall to plan the lighting effect and keep the wiring organized.
For stucco homes, we assess both the visible finish and the backing at the proposed attachment points. Rough texture, loose paint, and weak surfaces affect mounting choices. We plan suitable fastening and wire support rather than treating every exterior surface alike.
Roofline coverage can include the front elevation, garage, entry, selected sides, or a larger perimeter. Upper levels, corners, arches, and gaps between sections require planning for safe access, light alignment, and compatible unlit extensions.
We also identify the power location and a practical route to the first light. Our permanent-lighting service uses plug-in systems connected to suitable existing power. New outlets, new circuits, and hardwiring require a separate qualified electrical provider.

Planning permanent lighting for Las Vegas conditions
Desert installations need attention to sun exposure, heat, dust, wind, and occasional heavy rain. Product ratings are one part of the decision; mounting and component placement also matter.
We review the proposed installation for:
- Sun and heat exposure: The lights, controller, power supply, and mounting materials each need to suit their placement and manufacturer limits. A sun-exposed surface can be hotter than the surrounding air.
- Surface preparation: Dust, loose paint, and unsuitable finishes can undermine attachment. The mounting surface needs to be assessed before lights or track are installed.
- Wire and connector support: Cables should be supported, with connections arranged according to the system instructions and without unnecessary strain.
- Water exposure and access: Connections and power components need appropriate placement, while remaining accessible for inspection and service.
For example, Govee lists a temperature range of −4°F to 140°F for its Outdoor Lights 2. That rating should not be treated as a guarantee for every component, mounting surface, or retail kit. We check the instructions for your specific system and layout.
Permanent lighting is intended to stay installed, but it still benefits from periodic inspection. If you notice a loose section, damaged wire, or lights behaving differently, contact us to discuss the issue.
Permanent lighting and your HOA
If your community requires exterior-change approval, review its requirements before scheduling installation. Associations may consider daytime visibility, track finish, light placement, brightness, colors, animation, and operating hours.
We can help you describe the proposed layout and mounting approach for your submission. A daytime mounting photo and a warm-white nighttime example can help show the intended appearance.
Approval is specific to your community and proposal. A discreet installation does not automatically mean it is approved. Send us any relevant lighting guidelines with your quote request so they can inform the design.
How our installation process works
- Send your project details. Share your address, clear exterior photos, and the areas you want illuminated. If you own lights, include the brand, model number, and kit length.
- Review coverage and mounting. We discuss the roofline, mounting surface, power location, track or direct mounting, and any HOA requirements. We confirm details on site when needed.
- Receive your project quote. Your quote identifies the agreed coverage, who supplies the lights, mounting materials, installation scope, and payment and scheduling terms.
- Complete the installation. We install the agreed system, organize the wiring and transitions, and test its operation.
- Learn the controls. We walk you through the Govee Home app so you can select an everyday scene, adjust brightness, and use the supported scheduling features.
How much does permanent lighting installation cost?
We quote each project based on the complete installation. The price depends on the coverage, roofline height and complexity, mounting method, surface condition, access, power location, and whether you supply the lights.
Two houses with similar roofline lengths can require different amounts of work. An upper-story section, several separated roof levels, or a track installation may change the scope considerably.
For a useful quote, send photos showing the entire front of the house and any additional sides you want covered. Let us know whether you prefer tracks, direct mounting, or a comparison of both.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. We install compatible customer-supplied kits as well as projects where we provide the lights. Send the exact model number, kit length, and any track or extension details so we can check what is needed.
No. Direct mounting may be suitable for your home. Tracks are an option for organizing the wiring and creating a more discreet daytime appearance. We can discuss both approaches when quoting the project.
Yes, on compatible models. You can choose a white-light setting for everyday use and change it when you want another look. Available white tones and controls depend on the exact model.
We assess two-story and stucco installations based on the attachment surface, access, roofline layout, and available power. Send exterior photos so we can review the proposed coverage and mounting options.
That depends on your association’s requirements and approval process. We can help describe the planned installation, but the HOA decides whether the proposal meets its rules. Confirm any required approval before installation.
Timing depends on the roofline, height, mounting method, preparation, and access. We provide a project-specific schedule after reviewing the scope. Weather and site conditions can affect installation timing.
Our permanent lighting installation workmanship and labor are backed by a 5-year warranty, subject to the written warranty terms. The lighting products have separate manufacturer warranty terms. Product coverage and replacement eligibility are handled by the manufacturer; a product failure does not automatically make replacement labor a workmanship-warranty claim. Contact us so we can help identify the issue and explain the applicable service options.
That depends on the model and the fault. We can assess whether the issue involves a strand, connection, controller, power supply, or installation. Replacement components must be compatible, and cutting or splicing must follow the instructions for that model.
